Mansfield Town vs Scunthorpe United Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
Mansfield Town and Scunthorpe United meet in English League Two in a battle between two under performing sides. Both teams have struggled for form this season and a draw looks like the most likely outcome at Field Mill.
Mansfield Town Form & Team News
Mansfield Town have had a difficult start to their League Two campaign. The Stags come into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat away at Exeter last weekend, their second defeat in three games.
Field Mill has not been generous to Mansfield. The East Midlands-based club have failed to register a victory there in their last five matches, drawing two and losing three. They have also failed to score in their last two League Two matches.
The shining light for Mansfield this season has been striker Danny Rose. After a slow campaign last season, Rose has scored five goals in the opening six matches this season. He is likely to start upfront and will probably be joined by experienced striker Nicky Maynard.
New loan signing Conor Shaughnessy, who arrived on Monday from Leeds, could make a start for the club as they attempt to sure up their defence.
Mansfield are priced at 1.85 with bet365 to win the match. Given their terrible run of home form, these odds are flattering Mansfield. A draw at 3.50 presents a lot of value and is my tip for the match.

Scunthorpe United Form & Team News
Scunthorpe United come into this match having picked up a first win of the season away at local rivals Grimsby in the EFL Trophy. Scunthorpe won the match 2-1 thanks to a brace from Kevin Van Veen.
Scunny are still winless in League Two this season. They have lost five and drawn one of their opening six matches. They have lost their two last matches 1-0 to Macclesfield and Carlisle and have been unlucky in both games and are showing signs of progress.
Manager Paul Hurst will have a bit of a selection headache for Saturday’s match. The manager made several changes to his side on Tuesday and saw them register their first win. Kevin Van Veen will be in contention after an excellent performance on Tuesday night. New signing Junior Brown could also be placed into the starting eleven to add some strength at the back.
Scunthorpe are priced all the way out at 4.20 to pick up the victory. Winning away may be a stretch but a draw could be on the cards after a strong performance on Tuesday.
Mansfield Town vs Scunthorpe United Head to Head
Mansfield and Scunthorpe have played each other 23 times. Mansfield have the advantage with 12 wins while Scunthorpe have registered six victories. Five matches ended in a draw. Their last match was in the EFT Trophy in 2018 and Mansfield won 3-2.
Mansfield Town vs Scunthorpe United Match Up
Both of these teams have had tricky starts to life in League Two. Paul Hurst will want to capitalise on the momentum in his camp after Tuesday’s win against Grimsby and a game at out of sorts Mansfield provides the perfect chance.
Kevin Van Veen could be precisely what Scunthorpe have been lacking this season and he could be an asset on Saturday. A hard-earned point would steer them in the right direction.

Mansfield Town vs Scunthorpe United Key Statistics
- Mansfield Town have failed to win in their last 5 home matches in League Two.
- Mansfield Town have lost 2 of their last 3 matches (League Two).
- Scunthorpe United have won 1 of their last 7 matches in all competitions.
Verdict
Mansfield and Scunthorpe have both struggled this season. Scunthorpe should be buoyed by their 2-1 win against Grimsby and hold out for a point on Saturday.
