Newport vs Exeter Predictions

Newport's promotion charge is faltering following three defeats in their last four matches. Exeter come into this game on the back of two straight wins.

It will likely be a tight contest, just as the last five have been between these sides, but Exeter can take all three points to jump above Newport in the League Two table.

  • Newport have lost 3 of their last 4 matches (League Two).
  • Newport have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 home matches (all competitions).
  • Exeter have won their last 2 matches against Newport (all competitions).
  • Exeter have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 5 matches against Newport (all competitions).
  • Exeter have won their last 2 matches (League Two).

Head to Head

Since Newport returned to the Football League in 2013, they trail Exeter 5-4 in the head to head. There have also been six draws.

Exeter have won the last two meetings, the first a 2-0 win in the EFL Trophy last season and a 1-0 win in League Two last campaign.

Newport Form

Newport's struggles have seen them drop to fifth place in League Two after a run of just one win in their last 10.

Michael Flynn's side beat Grimsby 1-0 at home earlier this month, but that victory is surrounded by three defeats.

In the last four matches, Newport have lost 3-2 at Oldham and 2-1 away at Harrogate.

Their last game resulted in a 1-0 defeat at home to struggling Southend. Tom Clifford got the only goal in the 74th minute.

Newport's scheduled match against Port Vale at the weekend was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Newport Team News

Michael Flynn will be without defender Liam Shephard through suspension.

But captain Joss Labadie is expected to return from injury in midfield.

Midfielder Matty Dolan and winger Kevin Ellison are also likely to win their fitness races.

Exeter Form

Exeter last played on February 6 when getting the better of Bradford 3-2 at home.

It was a second straight win for Matt Taylor's side, who came from 1-0 and 2-1 down. Goals from Pierce Sweeney, Ryan Bowman and a Matt Jay penalty sealed the win.

The Grecians had won their previous game 1-0 at Stevenage with the winner coming from Rory McArdle.

Exeter had also beaten Stevenage 3-1 at home before losing back to back games to Morecambe 2-0 and Carlisle 1-0.

Exeter have had their last two games called off with matches against Barrow and Oldham postponed due to a frozen pitch.

Exeter Team News

Centre-backs Rory McArdle and Sam Stubbs remain out with knee injuries.

Full-back Randell Williams is on the path towards a comeback, but won't face Newport.

Left-back Lewis Page came off early in the win over Bradford with a hamstring strain, but could start on Tuesday after a 10-day break.
