Plymouth Argyle vs Oldham Athletic Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

In-form Plymouth Argyle welcome an out of sorts Oldham Atheltic to Home Park in English League Two. The Pilgrims are fighting for a promotion spot in League Two this season and they are priced at 1.82 to win the match.

Plymouth Argyle Form & Team News

Plymouth have had a strong start in League Two under new manager Ryan Lowe. The Pilgrims find themselves sixth in the table, having won three, drawn one and lost two of their opening six matches.

Argyle are on a great run of form at Home Park where they have won four of their last five matches at the stadium. Their most recent match saw them comfortably defeated Walsall 3-0 thanks to a brace from Ryan Taylor and a goal from Antoni Sarcevic.

Plymouth will be without Sarcevic for their match against Oldham as the midfielder received a red card three minutes after scoring. New loanee signing George Cooper could be handed a run out in midfield though.

Ryan Taylor is likely to lead the line alongside Dom Telford. Callum McFadzean and Joe Riley are likely to be used as attacking wing backs to supply support.

Plymouth are valued at 1.82 with bet365 to pick up the victory, the Pilgrims are one of the best teams in League Two and this is my tip for the match.

Oldham Athletic Form & Team News

Oldham have had a difficult start to their new season and find themselves third from bottom in League Two. The Latics have only picked up one victory so far in League Two this campaign.

Laurent Banide’s team have struggled on the road with the Greater Manchester based club have losing four of their last five away games in the division. Their most recent away game did see them defeat Cambridge 2-1 thanks to goals from David Wheater and Urko Vera.

Wheater is likely to start once again in defence for the Latics on Saturday. They may also hand a re-debut to winger Filipe Morais as they continue to search for an attacking threat. Urko Vera is likely to hold his place upfront as the club have few viable strikers.

Oldham are priced out at 4.33 to win the match, which is a reflection of the club’s current run of form.

Plymouth vs Oldham Head to Head

Oldham and Plymouth have faced each other 10 times. Oldham have won five of those matches, while Plymouth have won three. Their last encounter was in League One in 2018 in a game that Oldham won 2-1 at Home Park.

Plymouth vs Oldham Match Up

Plymouth have a very capable team and Ryan Taylor and Dom Telford are a lethal partnership at this level. Their strong attacking football should see them comfortably past Oldham.

Oldham have really struggled to get going this season and a big reason for that is their lack of fire power in front of goal. Oldham have only managed to score three times so far in League Two this season and have drawn a blank in three of their last four games.
