Aston Villa vs Leicester Preview

Aston Villa pick up most of their Premier League points at home and create chances at Villa Park. Leicester have been unconvincing under Ruud van Nistelrooy and a high-scoring win for the Villans is predicted.

Head to Head

Leicester have a 45-38 advantage against Aston Villa in 109 meetings with 26 draws. Villa were 2-1 winners when the sides last met in August.

Aston Villa Form

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are just two points off the Premier League’s European places. The Villans have secured 10 points from six league matches - all of which came at Villa Park.

Villa beat Brentford 3-1 and Southampton 1-0 at home and lost 2-1 at Nottingham Forest. The Midlands side hit back with a 2-1 home victory over Man City before a 3-0 loss at Newcastle.

Emery’s outfit almost made it four wins in a row at home during a 2-2 draw with Brighton. Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers responded to Brighton’s early opener before the Villans conceded again with 10 minutes left.

Aston Villa Injuries & Team News

Striker Jhon Duran and attacker Morgan Rogers are suspended and ruled out here.

Defender Pau Torres will also miss out through injury.

Leicester Form

Leicester are 19th in the Premier League and two points behind Wolves in 17th. The Foxes initially had a new manager bounce under Ruud van Nistelrooy, securing four points from his first two games.

That upturn in form gave way to a four-match losing streak with 12 goals conceded and one scored. Leicester have lost twice away during this period as they fell to heavy defeats at Newcastle 4-0 and Liverpool 3-1.

The East Midlands team lost again on Sunday, suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Man City. Leicester were wasteful with 1.84 XG and conceded either side of half time without reply.

Leicester Injuries & Team News

Attacker Jordan Ayew is likely to return to the squad after serving his one-match suspension.

Midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, defender Ricardo Barbosa and goalkeeper Mads Hermansen are injured and unavailable.

Forwards Kasey McAteer and Issahaku Fatawu are also out due to injury.

Verdict

Aston Villa are a good side with excellent quality and can put goals past an inconsistent Leicester. The Foxes concede loads of goals on the road and a Villa win with over 2.5 goals is the best bet.
