Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Bournemouth host Crystal Palace in an English Premier League fixture at the Vitality Stadium as they continue their battle against relegation. Defending has not been their strong point this season which means Saturday’s match is tipped to produce goals.

Bournemouth Form

Bournemouth are coming off a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool in their previous Premier League fixture. The Cherries took the lead through Callum Wilson and had four attempts on target before falling to the EPL leaders.

There has been some improvement from Bournemouth lately and their performances have deserved more. Eddie Howe’s side have won two of their last three home matches, beating Brighton 3-1 before claiming a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.

Bournemouth will need to tighten up at the back if they are to escape the drop, having kept just one clean sheet in their last 14 matches in all competitions.

Bournemouth News

Bournemouth’s injury problems have been worsened with centre back Steve Cook set for a spell on the sidelines after limping off against Liverpool. He joins the Chris Mepham, David Brooks and Charlie Daniels as long-term absentees.

Striker Joshua King is expected to return after missing the defeat at Anfield with a slight knock.

Crystal Palace Form

Crystal Palace claimed a 1-0 victory over Watford in their previous Premier League fixture. Jordan Ayew’s first half effort proved to be the difference as they fended off a number of attacks from the Hornets.

Palace have been poor on the road and have claimed just one win in their last seven away matches. Among their results in that run is a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle while they were also beaten 3-1 by Everton.

Roy Hodgson’s men have found clean sheets hard to come by and have conceded in 12 of their last 15 away matches.

Crystal Palace News

On loan striker Cenk Tosun has returned to parent club Everton after suffering a knee injury. Defenders Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins remain sidelined alongside midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Head to Head

Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have three wins each with four draws from 10 previous meetings. There has been over 2.5 goals in four of the last five meetings with Bournemouth claiming a 2-1 victory in the last clash at the Vitality Stadium.

Crystal Palace ran out 1-0 winners in the reverse fixture at Selhurst Park with Jeffrey Schlupp getting the only goal.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Betting Odds

Bournemouth are slight favourites among bookmakers with Paddy Power offering 2.38 for a home win. A victory for Crystal Palace is priced at 3.15 at Unibet who are paying 3.20 for a draw.

The Cherries produced over 3.5 goals in their last home fixture and a similar outcome is valued at odds of 4.00 while over 2.5 goals is offered at 2.20 at bet365.

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace Match Up

Bournemouth have rediscovered their attacking verve in recent weeks and often spread their goals across the team. Callum Wilson, Jefferson Lerma and Joshua King have all been on target in recent matches and should cause the Palace defence plenty of problems.

The problem for Bournemouth is their leaky defence which has conceded in 13 of their last 14 matches. They should face some trouble from Palace striker Jordan Ayew who has scored in his last two Premier League matches.
