Brighton vs Arsenal Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Arsenal are set to continue their recent resurgence when they travel to the Amex Stadium for an English Premier League fixture against struggling Brighton. The Gunners have been on the rise in recent weeks but their poor defence means goals are on the menu in this clash.

Brighton Form

Brighton did well to earn a 0-0 draw at Wolves in their previous Premier League fixture. They were organised at the back and looked lively going forward, finishing with seven attempts on goal.

The Seagulls are still seeking their first win of 2020 having played 10 matches this year. Graham Potter’s men suffered a 3-1 defeat at Everton in that run and were also beaten 1-0 at home by Crystal Palace and Championship team Sheffield Wednesday.

Brighton’s progressive style has earned a lot of plaudits but defending has been a problem in recent weeks. They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 19 matches in all competitions.

Brighton News

Winger Jose Izquierdo remains the only injury absentee for Brighton ahead of Saturday’s match. Pascal Gross is in contention to start after sitting out the draw at Wolves.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal are a team on the rise in recent weeks having claimed five wins in their last six matches. They have beaten a number of teams in the bottom half of the table in that run, including a 4-0 victory over Newcastle and a 1-0 triumph against West Ham.

The Gunners are well off the pace in the top four race and need to keep winning to maintain their pursuit of Champions League football. Mikel Arteta’s men have been plagued by defensive problems throughout the season and have conceded in 10 of their last 15 Premier League matches.

Midfielder Lucas Torreira is ruled out of Saturday’s clash with injury. He joins defenders Kieran Tierney and Cedric Soares who are all long-term absentees.

Striker Alexandre Lacazette is pushing for a start after scoring off the bench against West Ham.

Brighton vs Arsenal Head to Head

Arsenal have an 8-4 advantage with three draws from 15 previous matches against Brighton.

The Seagulls claimed a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture at Emirates Stadium. Adam Webster and Neal Maupay got the goals for Brighton while Alexandre Lacazette was on target for Arsenal.

Brighton vs Arsenal Match Up

Brighton’s defensive problems appear to be worsening by the day having failed to keep a clean sheet in 17 of their last 19 matches. They often attempt to balance things out at the other end of the pitch, particularly with Neal Maupay who was on target in the reverse fixture.

As always Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be the one to watch for Arsenal having scored 17 Premier League goals this season. He has a good understanding with Alexandre Lacazette who scored the winner last time out against West Ham.
