Brighton vs Liverpool Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Liverpool are poised to secure an away win when they travel to the Amex Stadium for an English Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Reds are predicted to emerge victorious in an outcome of over 2.5 goals with Roberto Firmino tipped to grab one of the goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion FC Form & Team News

The Seagulls have blown hot and cold this season with seven wins and nine defeats in their 21 matches. They have won just twice in their last seven fixtures and are down in the bottom half of the table.

Chris Hughton's team head into Saturday's clash off the back of a 3-1 win away at Bournemouth in the FA Cup. Prior to that victory, Brighton had been held to a 2-2 draw away at West Ham in their previous Premier League outing.

Glenn Murray did not feature in the win at Bournemouth and is expected to start on Saturday. Lewis Dunk could return to the defence after sitting out the FA Cup clash while the likes of Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia are also in contention to play.

Liverpool FC Form & Team News

The Reds are still the team to beat in the Premier League as they sit four points clear at the top. They were however beaten for the first time in the league this season having suffered a 2-1 defeat away at champions Manchester City last time out.

Jurgen Klopp's men were also knocked out of the FA Cup on Monday night after losing against Wolves at Molineux. Divock Origi's second half strike was the only goal for the Merseyside outfit as they fell to a 2-1 defeat.

Liverpool have injury problems in defence with Virgil Van Dijk the only fit centre back available. Fabinho deputised in that position against Wolves and should partner the Dutchman on Saturday while the front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are set to continue their partnership in attack.

Brighton vs Liverpool Head-to-Head

Liverpool are the dominant team in this fixture having claimed nine wins and just one defeat in 13 previous matches against Brighton. The Reds have also emerged victorious in six of the last seven meetings and triumphed 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield earlier in the season.

Brighton vs Liverpool Match Up

Brighton have scored four goals in their last three Premier League matches and will be hopeful of taking advantage of Liverpool's injury crisis in defence. However, given the Reds tendency to dominate possession, they are unlikely to do much damage to the Merseyside outfit.

As always, Liverpool will be banking on the front three of Salah, Mane and Firmino to provide the spark in attack. The Brazilian scored twice in a 5-1 victory at the Amex last season and will be hopeful of continuing the form that has seen him score four goals in his last two Premier League matches.

  • Liverpool have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 10 matches (Premier League).
  • Liverpool's Roberto Firmino has scored 4 goals in his last 2 matches (Premier League).
