Burnley vs Tottenham Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Tottenham travel to Turf Moor against an in-form Burnley side in the English Premier League. The Clarets have looked a different team in recent weeks and have enough about them to give Spurs a difficult time.

Burnley Form

Burnley were held to a 0-0 draw at Newcastle in their previous Premier League fixture. They put up a brilliant defensive display but created little going forward and finished with just one attempt on target.

The win extends Burnley’s unbeaten run to four matches and keeps them in the hunt for a European finish. They sit seven points behind Chelsea in fourth place.

Sean Dyche’s men often do their best work at Turf Moor where they are unbeaten in their last three matches, having beaten Leicester 2-1 and drawn 0-0 with Arsenal.

Top scorer Chris Wood made his return from injury with a second half appearance at Newcastle. The striker is likely to start in attack alongside Jay Rodriguez while forward Ashley Barnes, winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson, midfielder Ben Gibson and Matt Lowton remain sidelined.

Tottenham Form

Tottenham are coming off a 3-2 home defeat against Wolves in their previous Premier League fixture. They took the lead twice through Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier but were pegged back by Wolves.

Spurs’ top four challenge suffered a blow as they have lost their last two Premier League matches.
Jose Mourinho’s men have fared better on the road and are unbeaten in six of their last eight away matches. That run includes draws against Norwich, Southampton and Watford.

Tottenham were eliminated from the FA Cup in midweek after losing 3-2 on penalties to Norwich after the match had finished 1-1 in regulation time.

Tottenham News

Tottenham are still without injured forwards Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, midfielder Moussa Sissoko and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Wide men Erik Lamela and Ryan Sessegnon are back in contention to play and could feature on Saturday.

Burnley vs Tottenham Head to Head

Tottenham have a 33-31 edge with 20 draws from 84 previous matches against Burnley. Both teams have claimed one win each in the last two meetings.

Spurs recorded a 5-0 victory in the reverse fixture at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Harry Kane scored a brace while Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko were also on target.

Burnley vs Tottenham Betting Odds

Burnley are slight outsiders among bookmakers with Unibet offering odds of 2.95 for a home win. A victory for Tottenham is valued at 2.55 while a draw is set at odds of 3.40 at bet365.

Burnley vs Tottenham match Up

Centre backs James Tarkowski and Ben Mee will be hopeful of a repeat of their performance against Newcastle having helped the team to their second straight clean sheet. At the other end of the pitch, they will be boosted by the return of Chris Wood who is their top scorer with 10 goals.

Tottenham have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight Premier League matches. They however have the quality at the other end of the pitch to trouble the Burnley defence with Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn who was on target against Wolves.
