Crystal Palace vs Brighton Betting Tips - Tight contest predicted to produce few goals

Resolute Crystal Palace set to keep things tight against Brighton at Selhurst Park

A tight contest is expected when Crystal Palace host Brighton in an English Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park. The Seagulls’ attacking style has served them well this season but with Palace looking impressive at the back of late, I am tipping a low scoring encounter here.

Crystal Palace Form

Crystal Palace were held to a 0-0 draw at Watford last time out in the Premier League. They had no attempts on target and 0.21 expected goals but were once again defensively solid as they restricted the Hornets to few chances.

The result means the Eagles are now unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches. Roy Hodgson’s men do not score many goals, but have built their recent success on a solid defence with three consecutive clean sheets.

Defender Joel Ward is ruled out until 2020 with a knee problem while left back Patrick Van Aanholt is also sidelined. Mamadou Sakho is available for selection after serving a suspension.

Brighton Form

Brighton failed to build on their win at the Emirates as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Wolves last Saturday. They came from behind to lead thanks to goals from Neal Maupay and Davy Propper only to concede the leveler.

The Seagulls have been inconsistent this season and travel to Selhurst Park with just one win in their last five Premier League matches. Despite Graham Potter’s preference for attacking football, Brighton are not particularly prolific in front of goal and have scored one goal or less in six of their last seven away matches.

Brighton News

Brighton are hopeful striker Aaron Connolly and midfielder Solly March will recover in time for Monday’s clash with both men currently nursing groin injuries. Midfielder Dale Stephens is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season while winger Jose Izquierdo remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton Head to Head

Brighton have an 8-6 advantage with five draws from 19 previous matches against Crystal Palace. The Seagulls claimed a 2-1 victory on their last visit to Selhurst Park with Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert on target while Luka Milivojevic got Palace's only goal.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton Betting Odds

Crystal Palace are backed at 2.40 for the win on Monday while a victory for Brighton is set at odds of 3.00. A draw is offered at 3.20 at bet365 which could be a popular pick among punters.

Crystal Palace have produced under 2.5 goals in four if their last six matches and that outcome is priced at 1.66. The Eagles have kept clean sheets in their last three matches and that places a win to nil at odds of 4.00 while BTTS NO is paying 1.90.

Crystal Palace vs Brighton Match Up

Crystal Palace have found goals difficult to come by this season but have been excellent at the back in recent weeks. Having kept three straight clean sheets, they will be confident of shutting out an inconsistent Brighton attack.

Neal Maupay appears to be the biggest attacking threat for Brighton but has found the net just twice in his last six matches and is likely to struggle against Palace's sturdy backline.
