Fulham vs Sheffield United Predictions

Fulham look a tough side to beat and will be buoyed by a three-match unbeaten run in the Premier League. Sheffield United are very inconsistent and poor away from home.

A home win is the best bet in this relegation six pointer, with new signing Josh Maja to lead the way with more goals.

  • Fulham have conceded 1 goal in their last 3 matches (Premier League).
  • Fulham's Josh Maja has scored 2 goals in his last 2 matches (Premier League).
  • Fulham have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Sheffield United (all competitions).
  • Sheffield United have lost their last 2 matches (Premier League).
  • Sheffield United have lost 10 of their 12 away matches this season (Premier League).
  • Sheffield United have kept 1 clean sheet in 24 matches this season (Premier League).

Head-to-Head

Sheffield United have a 30-22 advantage over Fulham. There have also been 16 draws played out in 68 matches.

The sides drew 1-1 in the reverse fixture at Bramall Lane in October. Blades striker Billy Sharp scored an 85th minute equaliser to cancel out Ademola Lookman’s strike.

Fulham have won three of the last four meetings between the two sides and scored 12 goals.

Fulham Form

Fulham are undefeated in their last three Premier League matches, drawing two and winning one.

The Cottagers beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park last weekend, with January signing Josh Maja scoring both goals on his full debut.

Fulham drew 1-1 with Burnley in midweek. Oli Aina’s opener was cancelled out by Ashley Barnes in the second half.

Scott Parker’s side have conceded one goal in their last three games and kept three clean sheets in their last six.

Fulham Injuries and Team News

Scott Parker is likely to name an unchanged side against Sheffield United. The Fulham manager has named the same starting XI for the last two games.

Josh Maja is likely to start up front. Bobby De Cordova-Reid partnered Maja in attack against Everton but played behind the striker in the 1-1 draw with Burnley.

Tom Cairney is ruled out with a knee injury and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is still unavailable as he recovers from coronavirus.

Sheffield United Form

Sheffield United have lost 2-1 to Chelsea and 3-0 to West Ham in their last two games. They are the first back-to-back defeats for the Blades since early January.

The Blades have won six of their last 10 matches in all competitions, and won three of their last seven in the Premier League.

Chris Wilder’s side remain rooted to the bottom with the away record of 10 defeats in 12 games the major problem.

The Blades have conceded 11 goals in their last six Premier League matches and have kept one clean sheet all season.

Sheffield United Injuries and Team News

Central defenders John Egan, Jack Robinson and Jack O’Connell are ruled out for Sheffield United. Phil Jagielka is likely to start alongside Chris Basham and Ethan Ampadu in a back three.

Chris Wilder will also be without midfielders Sander Berge and John Fleck. John Lundstram, Oliver Norwood and Ben Osborn should start in central midfield.

Billy Sharp has started the last two games up front for Sheffield United. But Wilder has rotated Rhian Brewster, David McGoldrick and Ollie McBurnie alongside Sharp in recent weeks.

Verdict

Fulham are a difficult side to face on current form. The recent 2-0 win over Everton will give them confidence of performing a great escape from the drop zone.

Josh Maja has hit the ground running and proven himself a goalscoring threat for the Cottagers.
