Local rivals Liverpool and Everton clash in the Merseyside derby at Anfield in a Wednesday night English Premier League fixture. The Reds are runaway leaders in the EPL and Jürgen Klopp’s side should be too strong for Marco Silva’s strugglers.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool were cruising against Brighton after Trent Alexander-Arnold assisted Virgil van Dijk twice to establish a 2-0 half time lead. Alisson’s 76th minute red card changed the game, the Reds holding on for a 2-1 win to extend their winning run at Anfield to 14 matches in the English Premier League.

The result came after a 1-1 home draw against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League and 2-1 win at Crystal Palace in the EPL. Jürgen Klopp’s side are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table and looking good for the title.

Liverpool News

Goalkeeper Alisson is suspended with Adrián set to take over in goal. Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne are still injured and are joined by Fabinho who is out until the new year.

James Milner is an option to start in central midfield after remaining on the bench against Brighton. Naby Keita made the bench against Brighton but might have to wait a little longer for a start.

Everton Form

Everton lost 2-0 at home against Norwich which was followed up with a tough 2-1 loss at Leicester. Richarlison headed in Djibril Sidibé’s cross to put the Toffees into the lead, but a heartbreaking goal in the 93rd minute resigned Marco Silva’s side to their fourth defeat in their last five away matches in the English Premier League.

Silva is under huge pressure with Everton sitting just two points above Southampton in the relegation zone.

Everton News

André Gomes is out long term and Everton are without other central midfielders in Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Fabian Delph. Theo Walcott didn’t feature in Leicester but could make a return at Anfield.

Michael Keane started in Leicester as Silva switched to a back three. Alex Iwobi and Dominic Calvert-Lewin started up front alongside Richarlison but we could see some changes at Anfield. Bernard, Cenk Tosun are options in attack while Morgan Schneiderlin could some into central midfield.

Liverpool vs Everton Head to Head

Liverpool have a 76-52 advantage over Everton with 64 draws in 192 encounters. Liverpool beat Everton 1-0 at Anfield last season with Divock Origi scoring a 96th minute winner, the match at Goodison Park a tight affair that finished 0-0.

Liverpool haven’t lost at home against Everton since a 1-0 defeat on September 27, 1999 when Gérard Houllier was manager and Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen were the strikers.
