Liverpool vs Manchester United Predictions

Liverpool’s home form is impossible to ignore and Manchester United have had a recent history of failing to deliver when there is pressure and expectation on their shoulders.

I’m siding with Liverpool, who have the experience of two title charges in the last two seasons.

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 66 home matches (English Premier League).
  • Liverpool have won 38 of their last 41 home matches (English Premier League).
  • Liverpool have won their last 2 home matches against Manchester United (English Premier League).
  • Liverpool have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches (English Premier League).
  • Manchester United have 1 win in their last 10 matches against Liverpool (all competitions).
  • Manchester United have 3 defeats and 2 draws from their last 5 matches at Anfield (all competitions).
  • Manchester United have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches (all competitions).

Head to Head

Liverpool have 77 wins in this fixture compared to Manchester United’s 88. They have also played out 67 draws.

Liverpool won the most recent meeting 2-0 back in January 2020.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool have the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table with a win at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Crystal Palace and Tottenham before a mini slump in the Premier League.

The Reds drew with West Brom and Newcastle in successive weeks before losing 1-0 away to Southampton.

They returned to winning ways last time out, beating an inexperienced Aston Villa 4-1 in the third round of the FA Cup.

Liverpool now return to Anfield with a record of 38 wins in 41 matches behind them.

Liverpool Team News & Injuries

Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota are all ruled out.

Joel Matip and Naby Keita are struggling with knocks, but Thiago Alcantara should start after completing 45 minutes against Aston Villa.

Manchester United Form

Manchester United can move six points clear at the top of the Premier League table with what would be a huge win at Anfield.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have been grinding out results in the Premier League, beating Wolves and Aston Villa by a one-goal margin before domestic cup action.

They were knocked out of the League Cup by Manchester City, before beating Watford in the FA Cup.

On Tuesday, they moved above Liverpool in the table after beating Burnley 1-0 thanks to Paul Pogba’s volley.

This is one of the biggest matches of Solskjaer’s tenure and their record of losing four consecutive semi-finals doesn’t bode well with the pressure well and truly on.

Manchester United Team News & Injuries

Nemanja Matic and Anthony Martial are both doubts after picking up injuries against Burnley.

Victor Lindelof is also unlikely to be ready, with Scott McTominay and Fred expected to return to midfield after the pair were rested at Burnley.
