Man United v Newcastle Predictions

Man United have been hard to beat in recent weeks. Newcastle continue to struggle near the foot of the Premier League and are conceding a lot of goals.

Bruno Fernandes is in sensational form and can continue scoring at Old Trafford.

  • Man United have scored a joint top 25 home goals this season (Premier League).
  • Man United have seen over 5.5 goals in their last 2 home matches (Premier League).
  • Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has scored 5 goals in his last 5 matches (all competitions).
  • Man United have recorded back to back 4-1 wins over Newcastle (Premier League).
  • Newcastle have lost 4 of their last 5 matches against Man United (Premier League).
  • Newcastle have lost 6 of last 7 away matches (all competitions).

Head-to-Head

Man United have a 88-43 advantage over Newcastle, with 39 games drawn between the sides in 170 matches.

Man United beat Newcastle 4-1 at St James’ Park in the reverse Premier League fixture in October 2020.

Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Aaron Wan Bissaka and Marcus Rashford scored to cancel out Luke Shaw’s early own goal.

Man United Form

Manchester United are undefeated in six matches in all competitions, drawing three and winning three.

They drew 1-1 with West Brom last weekend in the Premier League. Bruno Fernandes’ equaliser cancelled out Mbaye Diagne’s opener at The Hawthorn.

Fernandes was on the scoresheet twice on Thursday as United beat Real Sociedad 4-0 in the UEFA Europa League. Marcus Rashford and Daniel James also scored.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have lost just once in 18 Premier League matches – a shock 2-1 loss at Old Trafford to bottom of the table Sheffield United.

Over 5.5 goals have been scored in two of Man United’s last two home games in the Premier League. A 3-3 draw with Everton followed a 9-0 win over Southampton.

Man United Injuries and Team News

Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani should return to the squad this weekend. Cavani could be named in the starting XI after featuring against West Brom last weekend.

Paul Pogba is ruled out until March with a thigh injury and Phil Jones remains unavailable with a knee injury.

Mason Greenwood could start in place of Anthony Martial.

Newcastle Form

Newcastle have won two games of their last 15 in all competitions. The Magpies lost 2-0 the Chelsea last weekend and find themselves in a relegation battle.

Steve Bruce’s side have lost seven of their last nine Premier League matches and conceded 16 in this run.

Newcastle have won once in their last seven away games. That was a 2-0 win at Everton in late January.

The Magpies have failed to score in five of the last seven away games in the Premier League, though, and have conceded 15 in those matches.

Newcastle Injuries and Team News

Jeff Hendrick will return from his recent suspension and could return to the Newcastle midfield this weekend.

Federico Fernandez is also set to return from a thigh injury and could partner Ciaran Clark at centre back.

Top goal scorer Callum Wilson is ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Centre-back Fabian Schar is also out long term with a knee ligament injury and right-back Javi Manquillo remains out until late March with an ankle ligament injury.
