Vitesse vs PEC Zwolle Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Vitesse are in line for a convincing win against PEC Zwolle at the GelreDome in Arnhem. The hosts should be far too strong and can capitalise on a Zwolle side missing a number of key players.

SBV Vitesse Arnhem Form & Team News

Leonid Slutski guided Vitesse to fifth position in the Eredivisie in his first season in charge of the Arnhem club. This season has started well with a 2-2 home draw against Ajax and a 2-0 win at Willem II.

Jay-Roy Grot opened the scoring in Tilburg and Tim Matavz scored the second with Bryan Linssen assisting both goals. New signing Riechedly Bazoer scored against Ajax but got sent off late on, he might have to settle for a spot on the bench here after returning from suspension.

Vitesse couldn’t hold on to Real Madrid loanee Martin Ødegaard but kept wingers Oussama Darfalou and Matús Bero alongside their strike duo Bryan Linssen and Tim Matavz. Slutski has a lot of options at his disposal which should keep the squad fresh and fighting for first team spots.

Central defender Jake Clarke-Salter returned to Chelsea and left back Alexander Büttner was released. On loan centra back Armando Obispo has slotted straight into defence and Max Clark has started strong at left back. There are no injuries to report.

Vitesse have won their last three Eredivisie matches against PEC Zwolle and can be backed at 1.39 to make it four. They dominated Willem II last week and back at home against a similar opponent, I think they can cover the -1 handicap at 2.00.

PEC Zwolle Form & Team News

PEC Zwolle slipped to 14th in the Eredivisie last season, their lowest finish since returning to the top flight in 2012. Manager John Stegeman replaced Jaap Stam after a year in charge of Go Ahead Eagles.

The season hasn’t started well with two 3-1 defeats at home against Willem II and away at Utrecht. Stegeman’s side were outplayed in both matches and a trip to Vitesse represents their toughest match so far.

Zwolle’s best players were sold in the summer with Younes Namli joining Krasnodar and Kingsley Ehizibue moving to Koln. Injuries have also hit hard with defenders Thomas Lam and Bram van Polen out long term, central midfielder Pelle Clement battling knee problems with attackers Vito van Crooij and Mike van Duinen also unavailable.

The latter two were two of the most productive players last season so much of the goal scoring responsibility falls on striker Lennart Thy. Thy scored in the opening match at home but couldn’t manage a single shot at Utrecht.

PEC Zwolle have lost four of their last five away matches in the Eredivisie and are outsiders here at 8.00. Claiming a draw would represent a positive result which can be backed at 5.00.

Vitesse vs PEC Zwolle Head to Head

Vitesse have a 25-9 advantage over PEC Zwolle with 10 draws in 44 encounters. Vitesse have won the last three matches against PEC Zwolle, including a 4-1 home win in April.

Bryan Linssen put Vitesse ahead, Lennart Thy equalised and PEC Zwolle went a man up after Alexander Büttner was sent off in the 29th minute. Vitesse fought hard with 10 men however, Linssen securing his hat-trick either side of a Mohammed Dauda strike.

Vitesse vs PEC Zwolle Match Up

The Vitesse strike force of Bryan Linssen and Tim Matavz hit their stride last week and the emergence of Jay-Roy Grot is a bonus. The on loan Leeds player took six shots and scored the opener against Willem II, offering another threat from midfield alongside Oussama Tannane and Matús Bero.

PEC Zwolle are on a downward spiral, forced to sell their best players with other important players injured. It could be a long and difficult season for the Bluefingers.

Post bet analysis

Vitesse were far too strong as expected with Tim Matavz scoring the first goal and registering 2 assists. Narrowly missed the correct score but pocket a handy 11 unit profit.
