Willem II Form
Willem II are in awful form having won one of their last 20 games. Peter Maes was sacked after eight straight defeats and replaced by Kristof Aelbrecht in late April.
Aelbrecht picked up two points in four matches to finish in the relegation play-off position. They lost 2-1 at Dordrecht in the play-off first leg, winning 3-2 at home to take it to a penalty shootout where they went through.
The Tilburg club drew 2-2 at Telstar in the play-off final first leg. Ringo Meerveld put them ahead in the 14th minute before falling 2-1 behind, Emilio Kehrer coming off the bench to equalise in the 81st minute.
Telstar Form
Telstar have capitalized on strong home from this season, going unbeaten in 22 of their previous 23 games at 711 Stadion. They got past Den Haag in the first round of the play-offs, Youssef El Kachati scoring in both legs as they won 3-0 on aggregate.
Anthony Correia’s side got past Den Bosch in the second round. They drew 0-0 in the first leg and were 1-0 down in the second leg at home, El Kachati equalising from the penalty spot and Danny Bakker scoring in extra time to secure a 2-1 victory.
Telstar fell behind against Willem II in the play-off final first leg. An own goal brought them level after half-time and El Kachati scored to make it 2-1, the game ending 2-2 despite the hosts having 16-8 shots.
Verdict
Willem II scored late to earn a 2-2 in the first leg and return to Tilburg where they have won once this year. I think this will be another close match where the tie is set to go to extra time.
