Head to Head

West Ham have a 45-40 advantage against Aston Villa in 121 meetings with 36 draws. Villa beat the Hammers 2-1 when the sides last met in August.

Aston Villa Form

Aston Villa have improved their form since an eight-match winless run across November and December. The Midlands side are unbeaten in six of their last eight games and have won five.

Four of those victories came at home, including three in a row against Brentford, Southampton and Man City. Villa followed the City victory with a 3-0 loss at Newcastle and a 2-2 draw at home against Brighton.

The Villans hit back with a comfortable 2-1 triumph over Leicester on Saturday. Ross Barkley and Leon Bailey scored as Villa dominated with 2.35 XG.

Aston Villa Injuries & Team News

Striker Jhon Durán is suspended and unavailable for selection in the FA Cup.

Midfield duo John McGinn and Jaden Philogene won’t make the squad on Friday due to injury.

Defender Pau Torres and Diego Carlos are also set to miss out with injuries.

West Ham Form

West Ham sacked Julen Lopetegui on Wednesday with the Hammers winless in 14 of their previous 19 in all competitions.

The Hammers dropped points through 1-1 draws with Bournemouth and Brighton before beating Southampton 1-0. A 5-0 home loss against Liverpool followed and West Ham were outplayed with just 0.52 XG.

Lopetegui’s eight-month stint in East London ended with a 4-1 loss at Man City. West Ham were 4-0 down after 57 minutes and Niclas Füllkrug scored a late consolation goal.

West Ham Injuries & Team News

Attacking duo Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio are injured and unavailable for the foreseeable future.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and defender Jean-Clair Todibo are also ruled out of Friday’s clash.

Striker Niclas Füllkrug has scored twice in his last four away games and is expected to start at Villa Park.

Verdict

Aston Villa play on the front foot at home and can take control in this FA Cup encounter. West Ham have struggled on the road this season and the Villans can keep winning at home.
