Chelsea vs Manchester United Preview & Tips
Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho face off at Wembley as Chelsea and Manchester United go head to head for FA Cup glory. Both sides will be looking to avoid finishing the season trophyless.
Chelsea come into this clash on the back of a disastrous 3-0 loss to Newcastle United on the final day of the Premier League season. The defeat proved inconsequential as the Blues would still have missed out on a place in the UEFA Champions League.
Antonio Conte’s future at the club is under real threat after they missed out on the top four. Regardless of the result here, he looks to be heading for the exit door.
Chelsea have no fresh injury worries ahead of this game, with Danny Drinkwater, David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu all ruled out until next season.
Olivier Giroud is expected to lead the line for the Blues although Conte has been known to play with a false-nine. Eden Hazard could start in a front three comprising of Willian and Pedro
United head into this fixture after a 1-0 win over Watford on the final day of the Premier League season and they start this final as slight favourites.
The Red Devils enjoyed a relatively easy run in the FA Cup and comfortably beat lower league clubs Derby County and Yeovil Town. They later dispatched Premier League clubs Huddersfield and Brighton.
They faced their biggest test in the semi-finals where they went up against Tottenham Hotspur. While they did concede their first goal of the campaign, they ultimately proved too good for the North London club and walked away 2-1 victors.
United have two major injury concerns ahead of the final, with attacking pair Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku both set to undergo late fitness tests.
Manchester United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford back in February's Premier League meeting between the sides. The Blues though won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season.
They met in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup last season, with eventual finalists Chelsea winning 1-0 at home, thanks to a rare goal from N'Golo Kante.
Both sides are desperate to finish the season with a trophy which might make for a cagey affair. Jose Mourinho will be pragmatic in his approach despite his United side starting as slight favourites.
- Chelsea have failed to score more than once in their last four matches (All Competitions).
- Manchester United have scored 2 or more goals in 8 of their last 9 matches (FA Cup).
- David De Gea has recorded 18 clean sheets this season (Premier League).
Confidence is low at Chelsea at the moment and they will need a big performance to beat Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho has a superb record in Cup finals and I expect him to finish off a fading Chelsea team at Wembley
Best Bet: Manchester United to win at 2.70
