Man United vs Fulham Predictions

An exciting back-and-forth cup contest seems likely, with goals at both ends on the cards.

BTTS and over 2.5 goals is my first pick, with Fulham fancied to score two or more.

Stats

  • Man United have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 home matches
  • Manchester United conceded 2+ goals in 6 of their last 9 home matches
  • Man United have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 home matches against Fulham
  • Fulham have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 away matches
  • Fulham scored 2+ goals in their last 7 away matches

Head to Head

Man Utd and Fulham have met on 11 occasions since 2014. United have dominated the fixture, picking up nine wins. Fulham's only success was a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford last year.

Man United Form

Man United return to Old Trafford four days after a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Ipswich. Despite Patrick Dorgu's first-half dismissal, Harry Maguire's second-half strike helped the Red Devils claim a much-needed home victory.

While Ruben Amorim's men have picked up some decent results on the road, their home form leaves plenty of room for improvement. United lost five of their last nine games at Old Trafford, conceding 18 goals in the process.

Without a clean sheet in any of their last nine home matches, an average of 3.5 goals per game were scored in those fixtures.

Man United Team News

Head coach Amorim has several players absent from his squad on Sunday. Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo, and Lisandro Martínez will all miss out with injury issues this weekend.

Patrick Dorgu is suspended after his dismissal against Ipswich. Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui is likely to deputise in the United rearguard.

Fulham Form

Fulham make the trip north in high spirits after a midweek win at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Rodrigo Muniz's second-half strike secured a 2-1 victory, marking the Cottagers's fourth successive away victory.

Marco Silva's men have been in good form since the turn of the year, with seven wins and only three defeats recorded in 12 games played since Boxing Day.

On the road, the Cottagers have been particularly dangerous. Fulham won six and lost just one of their last nine away fixtures. Silva's side scored two goals or more in all but one of those matches.

Fulham Team News

Marco Silva has some injury issues to deal with ahead of Sunday's trip to Old Trafford. Kenny Tete, Harry Wilson and Reiss Nelson are unlikely to feature, while Emile Smith Rowe faces a late fitness test.

Rodrigo Muniz is in contention for a recall after his goal-scoring substitute appearance at Wolves.

Verdict

High-scoring outcomes have been frequent at Old Trafford, and a similar scenario could develop this weekend.

BTTS and over 2.5 goals is my first pick, and I also expect Fulham to score two goals or more.
