Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich Predictions

Forest should make a return to winning form in Monday's FA Cup 5th-round tie.

A home win is my top tip at the City Ground.

Stats

  • Nottingham Forest won 6 of their last 8 home matches
  • Nottingham Forest won their last 4 home matches against Ipswich
  • Ipswich lost 6 of their last 8 matches

Head to Head

Nottingham Forest and Ipswich have met ten times in the past decade. Forest won five of those games while Ipswich picked up three victories.

Ipswich have a miserable record at the City Ground, failing to win any of 15 visits since 1999.

Nottingham Forest Form

Nottingham Forest bounced back from successive away defeats with a hard-fought Premier League point gained against Arsenal on Wednesday. Nuno Espírito Santo's side slipped to losses at Fulham (2-1) and Newcastle (4-3) before their goalless stalemate against the Gunners earlier this week.

Despite failing to win any of their last four matches, the Garibaldis remain in fine form at the City Ground. Forest won eight and lost only one of 11 previous games on home soil, and remain third in what has been an outstanding Premier League campaign.

FA Cup runners-up in 1991, the Tricky Trees last claimed English football's most historic prize in 1959.

Nottingham Forest Team News

Head coach Espírito Santo was tight-lipped over any potential injury issues ahead of Monday's FA Cup contest. Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel is the only confirmed absentee for the home side.

Top scorer Chris Wood is set to start with the hosts unlikely to make too many alterations to their first XI.

Ipswich Form

Ipswich turn their attention to Monday's FA Cup clash now winless in eight of their last nine matches after a 3-2 defeat against Man Utd last Wednesday. Level at 2-2 and with a man advantage at halftime after Patrick Dorgu's red card, Kieran McKenna's side left Old Trafford empty-handed after Harry Maguire's second-half winner.

A poor run of form has seen Ipswich lose six matches since a 3-0 win against Bristol City in their FA Cup fourth-round tie in January.

The Tractor Boys' only FA Cup triumph occurred in their solitary appearance in the final in 1977.

Ipswich Team News

Ipswich boss McKenna has a handful of expected absentees on Monday. Omari Hutchinson, Wes Burns, Chiedozie Ogbene, Christian Walton and Kalvin Phillips are injury absentees while on-loan winger Julio Enciso is cup-tied.

Verdict

Forest have an excellent home record, both this season and in past encounters against Ipswich.

A home win is my only choice at the City Ground.
