Sheffield United vs Bristol City Predictions & Tips - Blades to progress in the FA Cup

Sheffield United will be close to full strength as they go in search of a cup run. At home, The Blades should be too good for a Bristol side that have lost six of their last seven on the road. My best bet is a Sheffield United win.

Sheffield United lead 16-10 in 30 matches against Bristol City. There have been four draws. 

The last time they met was in the Championship in 2019. Bristol City won 3-2 away that day.

Sheffield United progressed from the last round of the FA Cup after being Plymouth Argyle at home. They will be keen to go on a cup run considering that they are likely going to return to the Championship next season.

Since beating Plymouth, The Blades form has been reasonably good. They caused a huge upset by beating Manchester United 2-1 away before losing 1-0 at Manchester City.

That was followed by a 2-1 home victory over West Brom. Sheffield United lost their last match 2-1 at home to Chelsea. Chris Wilder’s leveled matters at 1-1 after an Antonio Rudiger own goal, but a penalty 30 minutes from time handed Chelsea victory.

Ethan Ampadu should return to The Blades starting lineup after sitting out against his parent club, Chelsea at the weekend.

Up front, David McGoldrick should start and will be partnered by either Billy Sharp or Rhian Brewster.

George Baldrock and Enda Stevens are still both out injured ahead of this clash. 

Bristol City have enjoyed a fine season thus far and qualified for the 5th round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win at Millwall.

With top six looking distinctly possible for City just a couple of weeks ago, they have gone on to lose their last three matches.

After beating Huddersfield Town 2-1 at home, City lost 1-0 at Derby County and 3-2 at Brentford. In their last match, Bristol City lost 2-0 at home against Cardiff.

Defenders Jay Dasilva and Tommy Rowe, winger Callum O’Dowda and attacker Andreas Weimann will all miss the trip to Bramall Lane through injury.
