Tottenham are backed to see off Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third round replay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs have the superior quality to get past the Championship team at the second time of asking.

Tottenham Form

Tottenham would have been left disappointed by the 1-1 draw in the first fixture with Middlesbrough as they failed to make their dominance and multiple chances count. They head into Tuesday’s match off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to EPL leaders Liverpool.

Despite the defeat to Liverpool, Spurs still have a solid home record having won five of their last eight matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Among their results at home is a 5-0 victory over Burnley while they also beat Brighton 2-1.

Surprisingly, Jose Mourinho’s men have struggled to keep things tight at the back and are without a clean sheet in their last eight matches in all competitions.

Tottenham News

Giovanni Lo Celso impressed off the bench against Liverpool and could be given a start on Tuesday. Centre back Japhet Tanganga could also be set for a second straight start for Spurs, Harry Kane and midfielder Moussa Sissoko remain sidelined.

Middlesbrough Form

Middlesbrough were held to a 2-2 home draw by Derby in an EFL Championship fixture on Saturday. They led twice through Lewis Wing and Paddy McNair but were pegged back.

Boro are now winless in their last two matches, having also played out a 1-1 draw against Tottenham in the first meeting. Jonathan Woodgate's men are also on a three-match winless run in the FA Cup and have lost their last two away fixtures in the competition.

Middlesbrough News

Middlesbrough still have a number of injury problems with Daniel Ayala, Ryan Shotton and Britt Assombalonga among those on the sidelines. Striker Rudy Gestede could be in line to feature after making a late appearance on Saturday.

Tottenham vs Middlesbrough Head to Head

Tottenham have 30 wins and 21 draws while Middlesbrough have claimed 31 victories from 82 previous matches. Prior to the draw at the Riverside, Spurs had claimed three straight wins, including a 1-0 Premier League victory at White Hart Lane during the 2016-17 season. Harry Kane's second half penalty proved to be the difference for the London side.

Tottenham vs Middlesbrough Betting Odds

Tottenham are short priced at 1.25 for the win with a draw set at odds of 5.75. Middlesbrough are valued at odds of 11.00 for an unlikely win in London. Spurs have seen over 2.5 goals in four of their last six home matches and are priced at odds of 1.65 for a similar outcome.

There has been BTTS in five of the last seven meetings which is offered at odds of 2.10 at bet365.

Tottenham vs Middlesbrough Match Up

Lucas Moura has looked lively for Tottenham in recent weeks and was on target in the first fixture against Middlesbrough. He should combine well with Son Heung-Min with both men expected to trouble Boro with their pace and movement.

Spurs often struggle defensively and are without a clean sheet in their last eight matches. They should find things difficult against Ashley Fletcher who has three goals in his last four matches for Middlesbrough.
