League Two Tranmere Rovers host National League North Brackley Town in the FA Cup second round on Friday. Rovers have hit a rich vein of form and can earn a place in the third round draw.

Tranmere have reeled off five wins in a six-match unbeaten run this month. That includes a 2-1 FA Cup first round win over Accrington, defender Peter Clarke striking an 84th minute winner after Corey Blackett-Taylor gave Rovers an early lead.

Tranmere followed that victory with a 2-2 draw with Wigan in the EFL Trophy which they went on to win on penalties.

Either side of those cup ties, Tranmere have won four games in a row in League Two to move up to ninth spot. A 1-0 win over Harrogate was followed by another away win at Port Vale in a 4-3 thriller.

Tranmere have also won twice this week, thumping Grimsby 5-0 on Saturday before getting the better of Carlisle 1-0 on Tuesday in what was new manager Keith Hill's first game in charge. James Vaughan got two against Grimsby, while Blackett-Taylor scored the winner against Carlisle.

Brackley were involved in one of the games of the first round as they needed penalties to get past Bishop's Stortford after a 3-3 draw. The non-leaguers had already beaten Billericay Town on penalties and Marske United to reach the first round.

Kevin Wilkin's Brackley led 2-0 thanks to early goals from Lee Ndlovu and Matt Lowe, while a third from Tre Mitford reinstated a two goal advantage at 3-1. Darren Foxley's second of the game for Bishop's Stortford sent the game into extra time before Brackley edged the shootout.

The National League North side have won one of their four games played since the FA Cup victory. They head to Tranmere on the back of a 1-1 draw against Chester in which Lowe earned his side a point.
