Fluminense were considered underdogs in their Club World Cup 2025 opening match against Dortmund but got away with a goalless draw, having 0.64-0.24 xG and 14-7 shots.

Their form was excellent before the tournament, registering five victories in six games. They won last three appearances in May against Aparecidense 4-1 (Brazilian Cup), Vasco da Gama 2-1 and Once Caldas 2-0 (Copa Sudamericana).

The winning streak received an extension in early June with a 2-0 road win against Internactonal, Kevin Serna breaking the deadlock in the 11th minute, Paulo Baya doubling the lead in the second half.

Ulsan Form

Ulsan didn’t offer much in their Club World Cup 2025 opening match, suffering a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns (had 0.88 xG, 32% possession and 9-14 shots).

They have also been struggling in the Korean K1 League this season, grabbing 29 points from 19 matches and sit in 4th place, 12 points behind the leaders Jeonbuk.

Their recent form before the CWC was quite inconsistent, beating Gimcheon 3-2, followed by a 1-1 draw against Gwangju, while wrapping up May with a 3-1 loss to Jeonbuk.

Fluminense’s Winger Yeferson Soteldo is still doubtful, struggling with a muscle injury, while Otavio will miss this clash due to an Achilles tendon injury.

As for Ulsan, Seo Myung-Guan is the only player on their injury list.
