Inter Milan ended last season with a humiliating 5-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League final, which marked Simone Inzaghi’s final game in charge. Cristian Chivu has since taken over the reins.

Nerazzurri also had a frustrating Serie A campaign. They were in the title race until the final stages but squandered a golden chance to reclaim top spot with a 2-2 draw against Lazio in the penultimate round, ultimately finishing one point behind Napoli.

Inter Milan started the Club World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Monterrey, Lautaro Martinez finding an equalizer just before the break. 2.68 xG , 62% possession and 15 shots were not enough for Inter to claim three points.

Urawa Reds Form

Urawa started the FIFA Club World Cup with a 3-1 loss to River Plate on Monday, Yusuke Matsuo being their sole scorer.

The Reds have been struggling in the Japanese J1 League this season winning just nine out of 21 encounters and currently sit in 4th place with 34 points.

Their three-game winless streak which included draws against Kawasaki 2-2 and Cerezo Osaka 0-0, and a 2-1 loss to Nagoya has ended just before the tournament, beating Yokohama 2-1 at home with Samuel Gustafson scoring a brace in the second half.

Team News

Denzel Dumfries (muscle injury), Hakan Calhanoglu (thigh injury) and Davide Frattesi (muscle problem) are doubtful for Inter Milan, while Piotr Zielinski and Yann Biseck are unlikely to feature in the tournament. Mehdi Taremi is also unavailable, being unable to travel from Iran to the US.

Kai Shibato is the only injury concern for Urawa, recovering from a knee injury.
