England may have made it to the final of the last major international tournament, but that has not translated into much support heading into the 2022 World Cup.

Since losing to Italy in the final of the Euros, the Three Lions have endured a miserable slump in form.

They were relegated from the top tier in the UEFA Nations League this year, and there appears to be little confidence in them bouncing back Qatar.

Bookmaker William Hill are reporting that England have been more unpopular in the outright betting than in previous tournaments.

Despite being 7/1 third favourites, the Three Lions have not received as much support as Brazil, Argentina and even Uruguay.

“England have certainly been trending in the right direction in major tournaments, but our punters don’t fancy that run to continue in Qatar,” William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps told FreeTips.com.

“They will always be popular, but we have not seen nearly as much money as we usually would for the Three Lions at a major tournament at 7/1.

“Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay have been far more popular with customers and all would be bad results for us.”

Meanwhile, Uruguay and Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez is proving to be a popular pick to finish as the tournament’s top goalscorer.

Nunez has been well-backed for the Golden Boot at 33/1, with Lionel Messi (10/1) and Lautaro Martinez (20/1) also attracting plenty of interest.

“Darwin Nunez is the one they’ve come for in the Golden Boot market,” Phelps added.
