Australia vs Kuwait Predictions

Australia can just about wrap up qualification into the next round with a win in Kuwait. They have a dominant recent history against Kuwait, scoring 11 goals in their last three meetings.

I’m tipping BTTS No and  Australia to win to nil.

  • Australia have seen BTTS No in 6 of their last 7 matches (all competitions).
  • Australia have won 3 of their last 4 matches to nil (AFC World Cup Qualifiers).
  • Australia have won their last 2 matches against Kuwait to nil (all competitions).
  • Kuwait have seen BTTS No in 11 of their last 16 matches (all competitions).

Head to Head

Australia have a 6-5 record against Kuwait with two draws in 13 encounters.

The Socceroos picked up a 3-0 win in their last meeting as part of the World Cup qualifiers. Winger Matthew Leckie netted a brace while midfielder Aaron Mooy also scored, with all three going in before half-time.

This match will be played in Kuwait to reduce international travel due to the coronavirus.

Australia Form

Australia have not played since 2019.

The Socceroos have won all four of their group matches so far. They cruised to victory against Nepal in a 5-0 win, with striker Jamie Maclaren starring with a hattrick.

A 7-1 victory followed against Chinese Taipei where striker Adam Taggart and midfielder Jackson Irvine both netted braces.

Their last match saw them pick up a scrappy 1-0 win away to Jordan. Taggart slotted home a 13th minute goal to give the Socceroos their fourth win of the campaign.

Kuwait Form

Despite sitting second in the group, Kuwait have lost six of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Despite only losing 1-0, Kuwait were dominated in their friendly against Saudi Arabia, finishing with only 24 per cent possession.

Their last next ended in a 1-1 draw with Lebanon. It was a much improved performance from Kuwait, who opened the scoring through midfielder Shabib Al Khalidi.

Lebanon would hit back midway through the second half.

Kuwait finally got a win as they defeated Malaysia 4-1. Midfielder Ahmed Al-Dhafiri opened the scoring, with the side going on to score three goals in 17 minutes in the second half.
