Bolivia host Ecuador in a FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Estadio Hernando Siles on Thursday. With seven defeats in their last eight matches the hosts are low on confidence and face an Ecuador team looking for back-to-back wins.

Bolivia Form

Bolivia find themselves in the midst of a horror run of form. They have lost 10 of their last 11 matches with their sole victory coming at home against lowly Haiti.

In the 2019 Copa America, Bolivia lost all three matches to Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. They only scored once in those matches.

Between the Copa America and the suspension of football for COVID-19, Bolivia suffered defeats away to Ecuador and Venezuela. They then beat Haiti at home in the final match before football came to a halt.

Bolivia opened their World Cup Qualifying campaign with a 5-0 loss in Brazil before losing 2-1 at home to Argentina. The hosts took a surprising lead through a Marcelo Martins strike but Argentina hit back in the second half with two goals.

Bolivia Team News

Bolivia have selected a full strength squad for this match. The entire starting line-up from their last match is fit.

Forward Marcelo Martins will carry a threat up front for Bolivia after scoring against Argentina in his last international match.

Bolivia Squad

Ecuador Form

Ecuador failed to progress from the group stages at the 2019 Copa America after losing two and drawing one match. Since then the Ecuadorians have been inconsistent, beating Peru, Bolivia and Trinidad & Tobago twice but losing to Argentina and Columbia in friendlies.

Ecuador will be satisfied with their World Cup Qualifying campaign after two matches. They suffered a 1-0 defeat in Argentina but followed it up with a brilliant 4-2 victory over Uruguay at home.

Michael Estrada scored a brace after Moises Caicedo gave them the lead. Gonzalo Plato added the fourth goal.

Three points against Bolivia will be crucial for Ecuador in their attempts to make it to the football showpiece event.

Ecuador Team News

This will be manager Gustavo Alfaro’s third game in charge of Ecuador after being appointed in August.

Fidel Martinez and Christian Noboa are still absentees in the Ecuador midfield. Enner Valencia and Michael Estrada are likely to continue their partnership up front.

Valencia has 31 is 56 caps while Estrada scored twice against Uruguay last time out.
