Congo have only played one match in Group E of the World Cup qualifiers, a fixture they lost 4-2 in Zambia. They will be looking for a strong response and stake a claim for the World Cup.

That defeat to Zambia was followed by a 1-1 draw in Gabon in a friendly during March this year. Both World Cup qualifiers against Eritrea were cancelled.

The Congo have played very little football recently with just the one game in 2024. They failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations that took place earlier this year.

Morocco Form

Morocco are top of Group E with two wins from their two games thus far. They are favourites to top of the group and make the playoffs, but there is still a long way to go.

During the Africa Cup of Nations in January 2024, Morocco made it out of their group with a draw against Congo Dr, a 1-0 win over Zambia and a 3-0 success against Tanzania.

Unfortunately, that run came to and end in the first knockout round as Morocco lost 2-0 to South Africa. The North African side then beat Angola 1-0 in a friendly and drew 0-0 at home to Mauritania.

Last week, Morocco defeated Zambia 2-1 at home in World Cup qualifying. An early penalty by Hakim Ziyech got them started before Eliesse Ben Seghir doubled the lead after 67 minutes. Zambia scored with 10 minutes to play to make it a nervy last 10 minutes.

Given the travel that Morocco have to do for this game I foresee quite a few changes to their side. It is a game they will see as an opportunity to rest a couple of key players.
