Four days later, barely got away with a 2-2 draw in front of the home crowd against Uzbekistan, Mehdi Taremi scoring a brace.

Team Melli lacked motivation in Thursday’s clash in Qatar which they lost 1-0, creating 0.27 xG and firing six shots total.

North Korea are the only winless team in Group A, sitting bottom of the table with just three points (three draws, six defeats) in nine rounds.

They started 2025 with back to back defeats to Qatar 5-1 and United Arab Emirates 2-1 in second half of May.

North Korea were close to securing their first victory last Thursday, having a 2-0 lead against Kyrgyzstan (Park Kwang-Hun and Ri Jo-Guk on target), but conceded twice in the last 30 minutes, the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

Sardar Azmoun was not called up due to injury. Milad Mohammadi is suspended after being sent off against Qatar. Inter Milan’s Mehdi Taremi is expected to lead the offense, currently sitting at 93 appearances and 54 goals for the national team.

There are no reported injuries or suspensions for North Korea ahead of this clash.
