Spain won six of their eight World Cup qualifiers before finishing in top spot in League A/2 in the Nations League.

Luis Enrique’s side started the World Cup with a dominant 7-0 win against Costa Rica. Ferran Torres bagged a brace with Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Álvaro Morata on target.

La Roja took the lead against Germany, Morata netting off the bench in the 62nd minute but they couldn’t close it out, conceding the equaliser in the 83rd minute.

Spain ended the group stage with a shock 2-1 defeat against Japan. Morata opened the scoring in the 12th minute before they conceded in the 48th and 51st minutes, unable to take advantage of having 82% possession.
