Chile’s results on the road have been disastrous, securing just one point in six WC qualifying games. Paraguay recently beat Argentina and are doing great at home, so I will back them to win in a low-scoring affair.

Paraguay are having a decent run in the World Cup Qualifiers so far, grabbing 17 points in 12 matches and currently sit in 6th place.

In their October matches, Paraguay held Ecuador to a goalless draw on the road, then proceeded to beat Venezuela 2-1 in front of the home crowd, Antonio Sanabria scoring a brace in the second half.

Their best performance in the qualifiers was seen in mid-November, beating the reigning world champions Argentina 2-1 in Asuncion, Sanabria once again finding the net, Omar Alderete also on target.

In their most recent appearance, Paraguay have drawn against Bolivia 2-2 on the road, finding two equalizers through Miguel Almiron and Julio Enciso in the second half.

Chile Form

Chile are one of the biggest disappointments in the South American WC qualifiers, grabbing just nine points in 12 rounds and sit in 9th place.

La Roja improved in late 2024, holding Peru to a goalless draw in Lima, while earning a 4-2 home win against Venezuela in the follow-up clash, Lucas Cepeda stealing the spotlight with two goals.

Chile played an international friendly match against Panama in early February and recorded a convincing 6-1 victory, Nicolas Guerra scoring a hat-trick.

Paraguay's captain Gustavo Gomez is going to miss this clash as he recently recovered from a rough injury. Santiago Arzamendia and Alfio Oviedo were not called up. Miguel Almiron has the most appearances for the national team on this roster (64).

As for the visitors, Fabian Hormazabal, Mauricio Isla, Marcelo Morales and Erick Pulgar are injured. Sebastian Vegas, Eugenio Mena and Marcelo Diaz were not called up.
