Brazil travel to face Peru at the Estadio Nacional de Lima in a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday. The Brazilians will be in confident mood after winning their last match 5-0 but Peru have made it difficult for the visitors in their most recent encounters.

Peru Form

Peru had a stellar run in the 2019 Copa America where they were defeated 3-1 by Brazil in the final in Rio. Since then Peru have lost 1-0 at home to Ecuador, beaten Brazil 1-0 away, lost 1-0 away to Uruguay and drawn 1-1 at home against the same opponents.

That string of results was followed with a 1-0 defeat in Colombia. Peru’s last match was an impressive 2-2 draw away to Paraguay to get their World Cup qualifying campaign underway. Andrew Carrillo scored a second half brace which included an 85th minute equaliser.

Peru News

Andrew Carrillo’s two goals is almost certain to ensure that he keeps his place ahead of Marcos Lopez. There have been no reported injuries from the Peru squad following their last match against Paraguay.

Brazil Form

Brazil won the 2019 Copa America on home soil and are favourites alongside Argentina to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Since the completion of the Copa America, Brazil have played seven matches of which they have won two, lost two and drawn three. They drew 2-2 at home to Colombia, lost 1-0 to Peru at home before two successive 1-1 home draws against Senegal and Nigeria.

That was followed by a 1-0 home defeat to Argentina. Brazil then beat Korea Republic 3-0 at home before defeating Bolivia 5-0 in their opening World Cup qualifier.

Roberto Firmino scored a brace while Marquinhos and Philippe Coutinho added to that. There was also an own goal from the visitors.

Brazil News

Neymar recovered in time to face Bolivia a few days ago and should be fit for this encounter. Brazil manager Tite is unlikely to tinker too much with his side unless there are late injuries.
