A 3-2 friendly victory against Uganda was followed by winning the COSAFA Cup on home territory. The team did not concede a goal in their six matches in the mini-tournament.

A 3-0 semi-final win against Mozambique was followed by a penalty shootout victory in the final after a 0-0 stalemate against Senegal. In their first World Cup qualifier, Bafana Bafana drew 0-0 in Zimbabwe.

Coach Hugo Broos is not expected to make many changes for this match. Nyiko Mobbie may continue out of position at left back in preference to Sibusiso Mabiliso.

Winger Gift Links was taken off at half-time against Zimbabwe and may be dropped. Bongkuhle Hlongwane could be handed a start in an unfamiliar wide role.

Ghana qualified for the 2021 AFCON after topping their qualification group ahead of Sudan and South Africa.

A shock 1-0 loss in Sudan was followed by a 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana. A 3-1 win against Sao Tome in the final match secured qualification.

In June, the Black Stars played two friendlies as they lost 1-0 to Morocco and drew 0-0 against Ivory Coast. In their last match, Mubarak Wakaso's goal was enought to see Ghana beat Ethiopia 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier.

The Black Stars are without Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Ajax striker Mohammed Kudus due to injury. Fullback Benson Anang is also absent.

Defenders Daniel Amartey, Andy Yiadom and Abdul Rahman Baba will also miss out due to the UK’s red list rules. Crystal Palace’s duo of striker Jordan Ayew and winger Jeffrey Schlupp also won’t feature for the same reason.
