Turkey vs Netherlands Predictions

Turkey should prove hard to beat in Istanbul and Netherlands have been unconvincing under Frank de Boer. I am backing a draw with Georginio Wijnaldum to continue his fine form in front of goal for Oranje.

  • Turkey are undefeated in 12 of their last 14 matches including friendlies (all competitions).
  • Turkey have drawn 5 of their last 7 matches including friendlies (all competitions).
  • Turkey are undefeated in their last 2 matches against Netherlands (European Championship qualifiers).
  • Netherlands are undefeated in their last 5 matches including friendlies (all competitions).
  • Netherlands have drawn 3 of their last 5 matches including friendlies (all competitions).
  • Netherlands’ Georginio Wijnaldum has scored 3 goals in his last 2 international matches (UEFA Nations League)

Head to Head

Netherlands have a 4-2 advantage against Turkey with 2 draws in 8 competitive matches.

They last met in the 2016 European Championship qualifiers. The first match in Amsterdam ended in a 1-1 draw before Turkey won 3-0 in Konya.

Turkey Form

Turkey had a disappointing UEFA Nations League campaign. They won one of their six matches with three draws and two defeats, finishing bottom of Group 3 in League B.

Senol Günes’ side drew three straight before winning 3-2 against Russia in Istanbul. They played against 10 men for 66 minutes with Kenan Karaman, Cengiz Ünder and Cenk Tosun scoring the goals.

Turkey’s last match was a 2-0 defeat in Hungary to wrap up a disappointing campaign.

Frank de Boer’s side finished their Nations League campaign with two wins. Oranje beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-0 in Amsterdam with Georginio Wijnaldum bagging a brace and Memphis Depay on target.
