Thursday's Copa Argentina contest marks the 20th meeting between these sides since 2009. Atlético Tucuman hold a narrow nine-to-six H2H advantage after a 3-2 victory in their most recent encounter just over a month ago.

Gimnasia La Plata arrive in Santa Fe unbeaten in their last two matches after a 1-1 draw on the road at Defensa y Justicia on Sunday. Nicolás Fernández's second-half equaliser denied the visitors a first win on their travels since February.

Marcelo Méndez's side lost five successive away LPA matches before their point gained over the weekend.

Turning their attention back to the Copa Argentina, El Lobo secured their place in the second round with a 2-1 win against Centro Espanol in February. Gimnasia now face their first away tie in this competition since 2018.
