Merlin Polzin’s side returned to winning ways instantly, crushing Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-1 at home with Miro Muheim, Davie Selke, Adam Karabec and Otto Stange appearing on the scoresheet.

They were also victorious just before the international break, beating playoff candidate Magdeburg 3-0 on the road.

Elversberg Form

Elversberg had plenty of ups and downs throughout their 2. Bundesliga campaign this season, even spent a couple of weeks at top of the table but currently sit in 9th place with a five-point deficit from the playoff position.

Horst Steffen’s side has been inconsistent in the last couple of rounds, recording two wins, two draws and a loss in their last five appearances.

They started this month with a convincing 4-0 home win against Hertha Berlin, followed with a 1-1 draw at Kaiserslautern, Muhammed Damar finding the net in both encounters.

Their six-game unbeaten streak has come to an end just before the international break, losing to Preussen Munster at home 1-0.

Matheo Raab, Aoubaka Soumahoro, Noah Katterbach and Bakery Jatta are ruled out for Hamburg due to injuries.

As for the visitors, Patryk Dragon is recovering from a knee injury, while Frederik Jakel is also ruled out due to leg injury.
