Borussia Dortmund vs Freiburg Predictions

In what is a usually entertaining contest, I expect plenty of goalmouth action again on Friday.

BTTS and over 2.5 goals is my primary pick, while I also expect Dortmund to claim another high-scoring home victory.

Head to Head

Dortmund will be keen to maintain a superb recent record against Freiburg. BVB have won 23 and lost just four of 32 matches since 2000. Last season's corresponding fixture saw Dortmund claim a dominant 5-1 win.

Borussia Dortmund Form

The famous Black and Yellows return to SIGNAL IDUNA PARK after a disappointing goalless draw with Heidenheim last weekend. BVB enjoyed three successive Bundesliga victories in January before last Saturday's stalemate.

Fourth in the Bundesliga, Edin Terzic's side sit 15 points behind league leaders Leverkusen and only a point ahead of fifth-placed RB Leipzig.

At SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, Dortmund have been a little less than consistent in recent weeks. BVB have won two and lost two of their last five home Bundesliga matches, while they managed just one clean sheet in their last seven league games on home soil.

Dortmund boss Terzic has several players unavailable for Friday's matchup. Jadon Sancho, Karim Adeyemi, and Felix Nmecha are likely to remain injury absentees, while Sebastian Haller is at the AFCON with Ivory Coast.

Thomas Meunier and Giovanni Reyna are no longer available after both left the club on short-term loan deals last week.

Freiburg Form

Freiburg will be looking to avoid a third successive defeat on Friday after a 3-1 setback against Stuttgart last weekend. Christian Streich's men also fell to a 3-1 defeat against Werder Bremen a fortnight ago.

While down to seventh in the Bundesliga, Freiburg remain only three points outside of the European qualification positions. The Breisgau Brazilians have a poor away record, though, with defeat suffered in six of their last nine road matches.

Freiburg boss Streich must cope without the services of Merlin Rohl, who is suspended following his red card against Stuttgart last weekend. Additionally, Matthias Ginter, Philipp Lienhart, and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh are also likely to remain sidelined.

Ritsu Doan is available again after Japan's early elimination from the Asian Cup.
