Leipzig host Freiburg at Red Bull Arena in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Leipzig have been flying high this season, have a far superior squad and can make it count against Freiburg.

Leipzig sit five points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. They thrashed Werder Bremen 3-0 at home and Schalke 5-0 on the road either side of a 1-0 win at Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side then drew 1-1 at home against Bayer Leverkusen and 0-0 at Wolfsburg.

Leipzig bounced back with a dominant 3-0 home win against Tottenham with Marcel Sabitzer scoring twice in the opening 21 minutes and Emil Forsberg wrapping it up late.

Centre back is an issue with captain Willi Orban injured, Ibrahima Konate not 100% fit, Ethan Ampadu doubtful and Dayot Upamecano suspended.

Attacking midfielder Emil Forsberg misses out with tonsillitis but midfielders Tyler Adams and Kevin Kampl could return from injury.

Forwards Marcel Sabitzer and Patrik Schick have minor issues but are likely to be in the squad.

Freiburg’s strong start to the season has tailed off but they still have a shot at Europa League qualification. They lost 2-0 at home against Fortuna Dusseldorf and 1-0 at Borussia Dortmund but rebounded with a 3-1 home win against Union Berlin.

Roland Sallai, Christian Günter and Robin Koch were on target with Vincenzo Grifo providing two assists.

Defender Lukas Kübler is injured. Midfielders Amir Abrashi and Chang-Hoon Kwon have had time to recover but are not expected to start.
