Leipzig vs Wolfsburg Preview

Both sides have recorded several draws in 2025, but Leipzig’s home record in cup competitions shouldn’t be overlooked. The Bulls have won eight straight DFB Pokal home matches, and I expect this streak to continue on Wednesday.

Stats

  • Leipzig have won 4 of their last 6 home matches.
  • Leipzig have won their last 8 home matches (German Cup).
  • Leipzig have won 3 of their last 4 home matches against Wolfsburg.

HTH

Leipzig have an 11-7 advantage against Wolfsburg with 6 draws in 24 matches.

They last met in November, Wolfsburg claiming a 5-1 win in Leipzig.

Leipzig Form

RB Leipzig are unbeaten in their four Bundesliga games in February, but with just one win and three draws, they remain behind in the race for a Champions League spot.

After a goalless draw at Union Berlin, the Bulls defeated relegation-threatened St Pauli 2-0 at home, with Benjamin Sesko and Xavi Simons scoring in the first half.

They failed to build momentum though, as their next away clash against Augsburg ended in another goalless draw. Last weekend, Leipzig drew once again, this time 2-2 at home against Heidenheim, coming back from a two-goal deficit with goals from Lois Openda and Sesko.

Wolfsburg Form

Like their upcoming opponents, Wolfsburg have also been specialists in draws this February, with three of their last four Bundesliga matches ending level.

The Wolves faced two tough matchups early in the month, earning a 1-1 draw away at Eintracht Frankfurt before holding the reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen to a goalless draw at home in the following round.

Their only victory this month came on 15th February, when they secured a 2-1 comeback win at Stuttgart, with Tiago Tomas and Mohamed Amoura scoring late goals. Last weekend, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side managed only a point in a 1-1 home draw against relegation candidates Bochum.

Team News

Antonio Nusa (knee injury), Benjamin Henrichs (Achilles tendon), Forzan Ouedraogo (hamstring injury) and Xaver Schlager (knee injury) are ruled out for Leipzig.

As for the visitors, Kamil Grabara, Rogerio, Lovro Majer, Lukas Nmecha, Niklas Klinger and Maximilian Arnold are injured.

Verdict

Leipzig have won eight consecutive home matches in the German Cup and have beaten Wolfsburg in three of their last four meetings at Red Bull Arena. I’m backing the hosts to win on Wednesday.
