Bayern Munich face Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup on Wednesday. The Bavarians are enjoying home advantage at Allianz Arena, and despite many fans in attendance, can get back to winning ways and claim another trophy.

Bayern Munich have been in fantastic form in 2020, winning their eighth straight Bundesliga, 20th German Cup, third UEFA Champions League and second UEFA Super Cup.

The Bavarians have won 22 of their previous 24 competitive matches stretching back to February. They crushed Barcelona 8-2 in the Champions League and demolished Schalke 8-0 in their opening Bundesliga match of the season.

Hansi Flick’s side took on Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup and won 2-1 in extra time. Leon Goretzka equalised before half time and Javi Martínez headed home the winner.

Bayern Munich suffered a 4-1 defeat at Hoffenheim on Sunday. Bayern were 2-1 down thanks to a Joshua Kimmich strike but the comeback never happened in a rare off day.

Bayern enjoyed 72% possession but didn’t make it count, Hoffenheim ahead 2.52-1.17 in expected goals. Robert Lewandowski, Niklas Süle, Lucas Hernandez and Leon Goretzka all started on the bench.

Borussia Dortmund beat Duisburg 5-0 in the German Cup with Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard, Giovanni Reyna and Marco Reus on target.

Lucien Favre’s side opened their Bundesliga season with an impressive 3-0 win against Borussia Monchengladbach. Giovanni Reyna opened the scoring and Erling Haaland bagged a brace, Dortmund ahead 1.70-0.51 in expected goals.

Borussia Dortmund lost 2-0 at Augsburg on Saturday. They bossed the match with 80% possession and 18-6 shots but came up short in front of goal.

Left-backs Marcel Schmelzer is out and Nico Schulz is doubtful. Centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou and right-back Mateu Morey are also injured.

Winger Thorgan Hazard has a thigh injury and is out for several weeks. Goalkeeper Roman Bürki and forward Jadon Sancho did not travel to Munich.

Julian Brandt and Marco Reus are in line to start for Jude Bellingham and Giovanni Reyna.
