Turkey take on Germany in an international friendly in Köln on Wednesday. These nations have been in similar form, but the Germans have a far classier attack and Turkey’s inability to score could continue at RheinEnergieStadion.

Germany qualified for the European Championship after finishing top of Group C. Joachim Löw’s side were two points ahead of the Netherlands after seven wins and one defeat.

Die Mannschaft won their final three qualifiers in style. They won 3-0 in Estonia, 4-0 against Belarus and 6-1 against Northern Ireland with Serge Gnabry hitting a hat-trick.

Germany began the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League season with 1-1 draws against Spain and Switzerland. Ilkay Gündogan opened the scoring at St. Jakob-Park but they allowed the Swiss back into the game.

Leipzig defenders Lukas Klostermann, Marcel Halstenberg and Benjamin Henrichs are all in the squad. 

Captain Manuel Neuer has 92 caps and midfielder Toni Kroos has 98 caps. The attack includes Kai Havertz, Serge Gnabry and Luca Waldschmidt.

Striker Timo Werner won't feature after developing flu-like symptoms. It is not known if he has contracted COVID-19. Winger Leroy Sane is injured and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan wasn't called up after a positive Coronavirus test.

Mahmoud Dahoud, Jonas Hofmann and Florian Neuhaus are in line to make their debuts.

Turkey Form

Turkey qualified for the UEFA European Championship, finishing second in Group H, two points behind France. They conceded just three goals in 10 matches with seven wins and two draws.

Senol Günes’s side drew 1-1 in France, 0-0 at home against Iceland and won 2-0 in Andorra in their final three matches. They returned to the UEFA Nations League in September where they continue to struggle.

Turkey lost 1-0 against Hungary with the Hungarians hitting the woodwork twice. Turkey's last match was a 0-0 draw in Serbia, the Turks played against 10 men for the final 40 minutes but couldn’t break through.

Merih Demiral and Çağlar Söyüncü are first choice central defenders with Ozan Tufan and Hakan Çalhanoğlu in midfield.
35-year-old striker Burak Yılmaz has scored 24 goals in 61 internationals. Enes Ünal, Kenan Karaman and Ahmed Kutucu are other options in attack.
