South Korea vs Uruguay Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

South Korea are set to host Uruguay in an international friendly at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul. The home side have yet to taste victory against Uruguay in seven attempts and we’re tipping the visitors to notch a 1-0 victory.

South Korea

South Korea finished the 2018 World Cup on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Germany in their final Group F match.

Former Portuguese national boss Paulo Bento has taken over the coaching duties from former coach Shin Tae Yong. Bento rallied his side to a 2-0 win over Costa Rica and a scoreless draw against Chile at home.

Bento has included overseas stars Son Heung Min, Ki Sung Young and Lee Seung Woo in his 25 man squad. All three will be eager to make an impression with South Korea heading into Asia Cup group matches in early 2019.

The home side have a good record in Seoul, winning nine of the ten matches, but face an uphill battle against a side they haven’t beaten in seven attempts.

Uruguay

Uruguay have had an outstanding run of form in 2018, culminating in a World Cup quarter finals 2-0 loss against eventual champions France. Uruguay have won eight of their last nine matches, including a 4-1 win over Mexico in their last appearance.

The South Americans are set to be without Luis Suarez for the trip to Korea but have called up Girona striker Cristhian Stuani to lead the line with PSG striker Edinson Cavani. Stuani leads the La Liga goalscoring charts from Lionel Messi with eight goals so far this season.

Head-to-Head

South Korea have failed to beatUruguay in seven meetings, with Uruguay leading the head to head with six wins and one draw. The last meeting between these two sides was in 2014 at the same venue, with Uruguay recording a 1-0 win.

Match Up

Uruguay will be intent on continuing on their outstanding form from Russia and are superbly led by Atletico Madrid skipper Diego Godin in defence. Uruguay have called up Cristhian Stuani to partner Edinson Cavani up front, the Girona striker has had a superb start to the La Liga season with eight goals so far this season.

The South American side have proven notoriously difficult to break down and Tottenham midfielder Son Heung Min will have a tough time finding the back of the net.
