In June last year, they started with a 3-1 win over Grenada before being held to a 2-2 draw on the Spice Isle. El Salvador then drew 1-1 with United States to sit top at the time.

Since those Nations League fixtures, El Salvador have lost all three friendlies played against Peru (4-1), Nicaragua (1-0) and Honduras (1-0).
