Massimiliano Favo’s side ended the group stage with a 2-1 win against Sweden, overcoming a 1-0 deficit with CristianCama and Camarda scoring late goals.

Italy were fortunate to get past England in the quarter-finals, holding on in the second half before winning the penalty shootout. Federico Coletta scored the winner in a comfortable 1-0 victory against Denmark in the semi-finals.

Portugal were drawn in a tough group at the European U17 Championship, getting off to a winning start after overcoming an early deficit to beat Spain 2-1, Cardoso Varela and Rodrigo Mora on target.

The Equipa das Quinas thrashed England 4-1, Mora bagging a brace followed by goals to Gabriel Silva and Afonso Patrão. They lost 2-1 against France in their final group game but had done enough to top Group D.

João Santos’ side beat Poland 2-1 in the quarter-finals, Eduardo Felicíssimo scoring early and Mora restoring the advantage in the second half.

Portugal looked down and out in the semi-finals where they were losing 2-0 at half-time against Serbia. An own goal got them back in the contest, Mora equalising in the 89th minute and João Trovisco scoring in added time.
