Gangwon vs Ulsan Preview

Just one of Ulsan’s last 16 K-League 1 road games had more than two goals. Gangwon missed to score in four of their last six matches at home, so I am predicting a low-scoring affair on Saturday.

Stats

  • Gangwon have seen under 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 12 matches.
  • Gangwon have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 8 matches against Ulsan.
  • Ulsan have seen under 2.5 goals in 15 of their last 16 away matches (K-League 1).

HTH

Ulsan have a 31-5 advantage against Gangwon with 5 draws in 41 matches.

They last met in April, the game being won by Gangwon 2-1.

Gangwon Form

Gangwon have been inconsistent in the last couple of rounds, recording two wins, two losses and a draw in their last five K-League 1 appearances, sitting in 8th place.

Kyung-ho Chung’s side started this month with a goalless draw against Suwon at home, then outplaying Jeju FC 3-0 on the road, Franko Kovacevic, Lee Ji-Ho and Cho Jin-Hyuk appearing on the scoresheet.

After suffering a 4-0 home loss to Gincheon Sangmu, Gangwon returned to winning ways last weekend, also at home against Siheung Citizen 2-1 after a comeback, scoring twice inside the last 15 minutes.

Ulsan Form

Ulsan have collected ten points from their last five matches in the Korean top-flight and moved up to 3rd place, just three points away from the leaders Daejeon.

The reigning champions started this month with a commanding 3-0 home win against Gwangju, then drawn against Pohang Steelers 1-1 also at home, while beating Jeju FC 2-1 on the road last weekend, Erick Farias scoring twice in these encounters.

Ulsan were also victorious in the Korean Cup, beating Incheon United 3-0 at home during the mid-week action and advanced to the quarterfinals. Farias appeared on the scoresheet in this match as well.

Team News

Gangwon have no injured or suspended players ahead of this match.

Ulsan can’t count on services of winger Won-sang Um who is out with an ankle injury.
