Gwangju vs Daejeon Hana Citizen Predictions

Chances could prove few and far between at Gwangju World Cup Stadium. I'm putting my stake on under 2.5 goals scored on Sunday.

Stats

  • Gwangju have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches
  • Gwangju have seen under 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 9 matches
  • Daejeon Hana Citizen have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Gwangju
  • Daejeon Hana Citizen have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 away matches (KL1)

Head to Head

Gwangju and Daejeon Hana Citizen have met on 35 previous occasions. Daejeon hold a narrow 12-11 H2H advantage, with 12 games finishing level.

Gwangju Form

Gwangju return to home comforts after snapping a four-game winless streak with a nervy 1-0 win at Jeju on Wednesday. Despite the second-half dismissal of Lee Kang-Hyeon, Lee Jung-Hyo's side held on for a vital away victory.

An inability to turn chances into goals remains a major issue for GFC. Gwangju scored just six goals in their 11 most recent fixtures across all competitions.

The hosts' lack of firepower has resulted in several low-scoring outcomes this season. Under 2.5 goals were scored in all but three of their last 13 domestic contests.

Gwangju Team News

Head coach Jung-Hyo will make at least one change to his first XI this weekend. Lee Kang-Hyeon misses out after his red card against Jeju.

Brazilian forward Reis is tipped to retain his place in the hosts' attack on Sunday.

Daejeon Hana Citizen Form

Daejeon come into Sunday's KL1 clash looking to build on a hard-fought goalless draw against Gimcheon on Wednesday. Reduced to ten men after 57 minutes with the dismissal of
Soon-min Lee, Hana held on to secure a point at Daejeon World Cup Stadium.

Hwang Sun-Hong's men have endured a dip in results in recent weeks, failing to win seven of their last eight matches across all competitions. Daejeon had won eight of 11 previous fixtures.

Like the hosts, a lack of quality in the final third has hindered Hana's progress. Sun-Hong's side scored just seven goals in their last eight matches.

Daejeon Hana Citizen Team News

Daejeon Hana Citizen boss Sun-Hong has several players unavailable for Sunday's trip to Gwangju. Anton Krivotsyuk, Victor Bobsin, Kim Moon-hwan, Kim Seung-dae and Lee Soon-min are among eight expected absentees for the visitors.

Verdict

Neither side has convinced in the final third this year, and we should be set for a low-scoring KL1 clash this weekend. Under 2.5 goals is my best bet at Gwangju World Cup Stadium.
