Gwangju vs FC Seoul Predictions

Considering the respective goal stats below, a low-scoring outcome seems more than likely in Friday's KL1 contest.

Under 2.5 goals is my best bet at Gwangju World Cup Stadium.

Stats

  • Gwangju have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 7 home matches
  • Gwangju have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 matches (KL1)
  • FC Seoul have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 9 away matches (KL1)

Head to Head

Gwangju and FC Seoul will meet for the 28th time this weekend. Seoul won 16 previous encounters, while Gwangju scored seven victories.

Gwangju Form

Gwangju return to the World Cup Stadium now winless in three matches after a hard-fought share of the spoils at Daegu FC two weeks ago. Jasir Asani's first-half penalty helped secure back-to-back 1-1 draws for Lee Jung-Hyo's side.

GFC have failed to win four of their last five league games and now find themselves sixth in the division, 11 points behind league leaders Jeonbuk Motors.

A lack of attacking quality has led to several low-scoring outcomes this season. Nine of Gwangju's last 12 KL1 games, including each of the last six, finished with under 2.5 goals scored.

Gwangju Team News

Head coach Jung-Hyo is unable to call on four first-team players for Friday's KL1 contest. Je-Ho Yu, Bruno Oliveira, Jin-Ho Kim and Kyeong-Min Kim are likely to remain sidelined for the home side.

FC Seoul Form

FC Seoul face their first fixture in a fortnight following a surprise 3-1 home reversal against Jeju United. A brace from In-Su-Yu condemned the Dark Red Warriors to a third defeat in four home matches played since mid-April.

Kim Gi-Dong's side remain well short of their best form this season. Seoul failed to win nine of 12 games played since the start of April.

Like the home side, the Dark Red Warriors are rarely involved in high-scoring fixtures, particularly on their travels. Only seven goals were scored in Seoul's nine previous away KL1 contests.

FC Seoul Team News

Head coach Gi-Dong has three potential absentees ahead of the trip to Gwangju. Sung-Yeung Ki, Willyan and Sang-Min Lee are tipped to remain unavailable this weekend.

Verdict

A tight contest should be on the cards at Gwangju World Cup Stadium.

I'm banking on under 2.5 goals scored in Friday's KL1 matchup.
