Gwangju vs Incheon Predictions

Both teams have had mixed results this season, so it's difficult to pick a winner with too much conviction.

Instead, I'll take a chance on BTTS, an outcome frequently witnessed in previous encounters between these K League 1 rivals.

  • Gwangju have seen BTTS in their last 2 home matches
  • Gwangju have seen BTTS in 8 of their last 11 matches against Incheon
  • Incheon have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 6 away matches

Head to Head

Gwangju and Incheon have faced each other on 30 previous occasions since 2006. Gwangju hold a narrow H2H advantage with nine wins to Incheon's seven. Three of their last six encounters finished deadlocked, while Incheon claimed a 2-0 away win in their most recent contest last October.

Gwangju Form

Gwangju will be looking to avoid a third successive K-League 1 defeat when they host Incheon on Wednesday. GFC slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Daegu on Sunday after a 1-0 loss at Pohang Steelers before the recent international break.

While usually defensively solid on home soil, Gwangju conceded exactly two goals in their last two matches at the Gwangju Football Stadium.

Lee Jung-Hyo's side sit fourth in the K League, with six points picked up from four games completed.

Gwangju Team News

Head coach Jung-Hyo will likely make some alterations to his selection after Saturday's home defeat against Daegu. Moon Min-Seo and Choi Kyoung-Rok could drop out, with Eom Ji-Sung and Park Tae-Jun set for a recall to the host's starting XI.

Incheon Form

Incheon arrive in Gwangju in high spirits after extending their unbeaten run to three matches with a 2-0 win against Daejeon Hana Citizen on Saturday. Guinean Gerso Fernandes opened his account for the season in a comfortable win for the Durumi.

Jo Sung-Hwan's side picked up a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Ulsan in their most recent away fixture just over a fortnight ago.

Incheon Team News

Incheon boss Sung-Hwan will be forced into at least one change to his selection after Ban-Suk Oh was given his marching orders deep into stoppage time against Daejeon.

Woo-Jin Choi could also miss out with the 19-year-old replaced at half-time over the weekend. Hong Si-Hoo is the expected deputy.

I expect plenty of goalmouth action at the Gwangju Football Stadium.

BTTS is my top selection for Wednesday's K League 1 contest.
