Seoul vs Gwangju Predictions

An evenly matched KL1 contest looks likely to finish level.

I'm taking a chance on a share of the spoils at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

Stats

  • Seoul have drawn 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Seoul have drawn 4 of their last 6 home matches
  • Gwangju have drawn 4 of their last 5 away matches
  • Gwangju have drawn 8 of their last 14 matches (KL1)

Head to Head

Seoul and Gwanju have met 27 times since 2003. Seoul hold the H2H advantage with 16 wins. Gwangju claimed six victories, including each of their last four encounters.

Seoul Form

Seoul extended their unbeaten run to seven matches with a 2-2 draw against Daejeon Hana Citizen last weekend. Trailing 2-0 at the interval, goals from Moon Seon-Min and Jesse Lingard secured a point for Kim Gi-Dong's side.

The Reds have been held to draws in four of their last six KL1 encounters and four of their six most recent home fixtures.

Eight games into the new season, Seoul sit fifth in the division with 13 points on the board.

Seoul Team News

Head coach Gi-Dong will likely make changes to his first XI on Saturday. Jeong Seung-Won and Ki Sung-Yueng will likely return to the selection after both were introduced just 31 minutes into last weekend's draw against Daejeon Hana Citizen.

Gwangju Form

Gwangju make the trip to Seoul in decent form, with three wins picked up from their last four matches. GFC eased to a 2-0 success against Gyeongju KHNP in the Korean Cup on Friday after a 2-1 win against Daegu in the KL1 last week.

Lee Jung-Hyo's men have struggled for consistency in the early part of the new KL1 season. Gwangju won three and drew four of nine games played (W3, D4, L2).

Winless in nine successive away fixtures, four of their last five road games finished deadlocked.

Gwangju Team News

Head coach Jung-Hyo is likely to make one or two changes from the XI that claimed a 2-1 win against Daegu ten days ago. Lee Kang-Hyun and Park Tae-Jun are tipped to earn recalls after both made 45-minute substitute appearances last week.

Je-Ho Yu remains sidelined with a knee issue.

Verdict

An evenly matched contest is expected in Seoul this weekend.

I'm taking a chance on a share of the points on Saturday.
