Suwon vs Gwangju Predictions

High-scoring outcomes have been a regular feature of Gwangju matches this season.

I'm putting my money on over 2.5 goals scored on Tuesday.

  • Suwon have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches
  • Gwangju have seen over 2.5 goals in 13 of their last 16 matches
  • Gwangju have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 away matches

Head to Head

Tuesday's K League 1 contest will be the 30th meeting between these sides. Gwangju lead the H2H record with 16 wins to nine. Only four of 29 previous encounters finished as draws, including none of their last 12 meetings.

Suwon claimed a 2-1 victory in their most recent contest in Gwangju earlier this season.

Suwon Form

Suwon face their first home fixture in nearly a month after back-to-back away defeats against Gangwon (3-1) and Seoul (3-0). The Furies are very much the definition of an inconsistent side - Suwon won seven and lost seven of their last 14 matches.

Kim Eun-Joong's side have struggled defensively, failing to keep clean sheets in ten of their last 12 KL1 outings.

Placed frith in the KL1, Suwon enjoyed a decent run of home form with victory recorded in their last three outings at Suwon Sports Complex.

Suwon Team News

Suwon boss Eun-Joong has a fully fit squad available for Tuesday's K League 1 fixture. Park Cheol-Woo could drop out of the starting XI after he was replaced by Kim Tae-Han in Saturday's defeat against Seoul.

Gwangju Form

Gwangju face their second away fixture in three days after a disappointing 2-1 loss at KL1 strugglers Daejeon Hana Citizen on Saturday. Leading for much of the contest, Song Chang-Seok's 90th-minute strike secured the points for the home side. Gwangju had won three successive league matches before Saturday's setback.

Lee Jung-Hyo's men have also suffered from inconsistency this season. Gwangju won five but lost four of their last ten matches across all competitions, and now sit sixth in the K League 1 standings.

Defensively vulnerable, Gwangju failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 away matches.

Gwangju Team News

Head coach Jung-Hyo is expected to be without a handful of first-team players on Tuesday. Bruno Oliveira, Min-ki Lee, Heui-kyun Lee, and Jun-hyeok Choi are injury absentees, while Jasir Asani is on international duty with Albania at Euro 2024.

Verdict

Both teams have struggled to find clean sheets this season, and a high-scoring contest seems likely.

Both are likely to score, but I'm banking on at least three goals scored at the Suwon Sports Complex.
